Welcome to the Interserve mission placement agency; or is it the Interserve mission sending agency? Or the Interserve mission training and support agency?
Actually, we are all of the above. We train, we place, we send, and we support. In short, we do mission, in a holistic way. We also minister holistically, in and through our vocations and Christian witness. But back to the kind of agency we intend to be. We train, place, send, and support in partnership with others, here in the US and abroad. Our primary partners are US congregations and fellowships. We work with them to make sure those who go are properly trained for cross-cultural service. We then help the church do the sending. Equally important are Interserve organizations overseas. That includes Country Teams in the place of service and Interserve sending groups in other countries. Those, whom we and the church send, work in their professions and country of choice, but also in international, multi-cultural teams. Support is a joint effort by Interserve US, the church here, and Interserve over there, on the field. Does this sound complicated? It can be, but it isn’t possible to effectively serve in a difficult place for a long time without a sophisticated training, placing, sending, and supporting system.
So, if you are interested in hard place ministry, sharing the gospel in places where Christ is not known and among the poorest people on earth, you will need training, placement, sending, and support. Training includes your profession and vocational skills, and discipleship training as a follower of Christ. We can help you add additional training for working cross-culturally. Placement includes matching your skills, interests, and call with a job and country. That’s where our overseas partnerships come in. Sending and supporting refer to the practicalities of getting from here to there, and the pastoral care and support necessary to remain and thrive on the field. Interserve has a 156 year track record of being able to provide this for its workers. We aren’t perfect and we may not be the best fit for you, but if you want to explore using your profession for ministry in an area that desperately needs the gospel, Interserve is a good place to begin. Just call or write and we’ll take it from there.
